NATIBS is an European Commission Funded Project.

This is an Economic and Technological Intelligence (ETI) action.

An ETI action has 3 main goals:

-To promote innovation in SMEs
-To compile, analyse and disseminate information on science and technological developments, applications and markets
-To identify and disseminate best practices.

The main objective of NATIBS is to define and build new frameworks to involve newly created high tech and biotech companies in the FP6 (aimed at structuring and reinforcing the European Research Area-ERA).

They are, generally speaking, impeded to do it because of structural and organisational issues.

Activities of NATIBS consist in:

Identifying the NoEs and IPs that are currently acting in order to assess their needs and approaches to involve SMEs

Working with SMEs to build transregional groups and to identify new tools to enhance participation in the FP6

Extracting best practices and disseminating them.

The basic philosophy of NATIBS is to act in a concrete way and to have preliminary works directly aimed at putting together actors of the 6th FP and biotech SMEs. Moreover the goal is to use the technology audits of biotech SMEs to detect not only their abilities to participate in the 6th FP, but also their barriers to innovate and the tools that may improve their situation
